This week, I am really pleased to be able to welcome another new illustrator to The Rakish Gent - Velicia G. Waymer. Velicia is an artist that lives and works in Virginia. She has an A.A. in Fashion Illustration and Graphic Design from Suffolk University where she studied with notable illustrator Frank Raneo. Currently featured in the Directory of Illustration she has illustrated a whole host of personalities including supermodels Naomi Campbell and Alex Wek (I particularly love her illustration of Rihanna at the Met Ball 2014 on her website). As well as working as an illustrator, she is also an experienced graphic designer, body painter and mask maker and I am thrilled to be able to feature her work on the site.
The look that Velicia has created her amazing illustration of, styled by me is based around this beautiful Hardy Amies trench coat. I loved it the moment that I saw it at the S/S '14 presentation and it works with smart office wear, even though it is in a bold colour. You can currently get your hands on the trench, with 50% off in the Coggles sale.
The rest of the look is a great summer, smart city style that comprises of a slim fit, double cuff Thomas Pink shirt worn with tailored wool Brioni trousers at Matches Fashion (30% off now in the sale). I love the Paul Smith brogues with the contrast sole and because, if you are going to work in the UK, you always need to have an umbrella with you, invest in one from London Undercover. Both the shoes and the umbrella are available at Mr Porter.
