Look of the Week

By now the party invites should be coming in thick and fast. You will need to invest in a great tuxedo to impress this season, just like the rakish gent in the above illustration, which has been created by Mr Liyu Hsu. This is Liyu's second illustration for the site, and it is a brilliant one yet again.

Liyu's illustration, styled by me is the perfect dapper evening wear look for the Christmas season. The look is made up of a beautiful navy shawl collar wool blend tuxedo from Spencer Hart with a crisp white Brioni shirt paired with a black knitted bow tie from Burberry London and super smart Saint Laurent patent leather derby shoes. All of the products featured in this weeks Look of the Week are available at Mr Porter

New articles online

Two new articles that I recently contributed to Debater are now online. "Legal pressures on the NHS" is a look at the immense pressure that medical professionals are under, constantly fearing the threat of  litigation. The second article, "How Keir Starmer changed the landscape of the law" is my thoughts on the 5 year term as DPP served by Mr Keir Starmer, and the ways in which he has changed the law forever.

Please feel free to leave comments and express your thoughts. Debater is full of great content from some really talented young writers. Head to the below link to read the articles in full:

ASOS Winter Warmers

As much as we may hate to admit it, winter is finally here. Each day is colder than the last and we are all wrapping up in layers upon layers of thick clothing. Winter is an epic month for men's fashion. Colours are subtle and considered. Fabrics are thick and luxurious.

I recently had the pleasure of styling a look for Access All Asos. It was a brilliant opportunity to try on a selection of their huge winter stock which has everything from jackets and coats to hats and scarves.

My look for the winter is one that is really simple. It has all the wardrobe basics, worn together or separately and they all investment pieces that will last well all year round.

The look in these pics consists of the following: black Nudie Jeans made from organic stretch denim - an incredibly fitted, lean and comfortable pair of jeans with a orange red wool brushed jumper from YMC, which is one of the softest and most lux jumpers I have ever worn. The olive green parka with hood is from Fred Perry

The selection of shoes at Asos at the moment is pretty epic. I chose these black brogue boots from the Asos own brand. I will definitely be wearing them again and again through the winter. The same goes for the green bobble hat, from the Asos 100% British wool Crafted In range.

Huge thanks to the team at Access All Asos for picking me to take part in the winter warmers challenge.

Massive thanks to Asos, and Access All Asos for my new jeans. They are incredibly comfortable and flattering.

Look of the Week

This weeks look of the week is again from the supremely talented illustrator Clare Nield of Clare and the Bear. I love her dapper representation of a rakish gent.

Clare's rakish gent is wearing a look styled by me, and that puts together a few key pieces that would make for very wearable wardrobe essentials. The look consists of Topman premium blue suit, with Topman burgundy roll neck jersey top, worn with a pair of Grenson Stanley leather wingtip brogues and a J Crew montague distressed leather satchel, both of which are available at Mr Porter

Massive thanks to Clare once again, for her lovely illustration.

Best Dressed of the Week - Mr Sam Claflin

The double breasted suit jacket as an evening wear piece is worn to great effect by actor Sam Claflin at the LA premiere of the Hunger Games: Catching Fire earlier this week. An eclectic choice of items, Sam wore a double breasted Prince of Wales check from Alexander McQueen with smart black trousers and monk strap shoes. A pocket squares, Henley T shirt and polka dot silk scarf complete the look.

New article for Mens Fashion Magazine

My second post for Mens Fashion Magazine is now online. It is my first fashion piece for the website. The AW13 Trend Report takes a look back at the catwalk shows earlier this year, picking the key trends for the season and how to get them, whether you want to splurge or save.

Some of the trends covered statement knits seen at Kenzo, and smart street wear which was showcased at Saint Laurent.

Mens Fashion Magazine is a really brilliant site which has great styling advice and some really clever contributors.

Shop Holdall & Co

Holdall & Co is a relatively new brand, with an old soul. Inspired by life's journey and the sense of sentimentality that certain products hold for us, they have created a line of products that well made and great quality.

The whole collection takes its inspiration from the designers own made in England vintage cases and bags. The resulting collection is classic and timeless and the good quality blends with its owner over the years. Every mark and blemish has a story.

Holdall & Co's folios are made to last. minimal designs are combined with the finest quality materials. The buckle has a quick release lock which allows for easy access. My favorite feature is the newspaper/ umbrella loop which is an ingenious idea.

Designed with the modern man in mind, the sizes of the folios are unique. The 12 inch fits a MacBook Air, Ipod or a magazine. The 14 inch will fit your laptop and documents neatly. Due to demand, Holdall & Co have recently expanded into billfolds, cardfolds and slipcases, which can be custom made. Slim, light and durable they are made from the same high quality grain used for the folios, but thinned down.

Holdall & Co's range pays homage to England. All products are made with traditional techniques using British tools. Beautiful leather products, made with care and expertise. Shop my picks of the current range below:

Pre order the 12 inch or 14 inch folios for guaranteed delivery in time for Christmas and get a new cardfold case for free.

The professional 14 inch folio in chestnut £210.00

The billfold wallet in chestnut or tan £60.00

This weeks look of the week is bought to you by another incredibly talented illustrator. Liyu Hsu is a designer and craftsman, working in graphic, jewellery and product fields. A recent masters graduate at the Birmingham School of Jewellery and a former art director of a lifestyle magazine in Taiwan, I am thrilled with his imaginative and realistic creation and look forward to working with him more in the future.

The look that I styled this week is a cool and urban street smart look consisting of Saint Laurent slim fit leather biker jacket at Mr Porter, Givenchy doberman print T shirt at Matches Fashion worn with Topman super spray skinny jeans and Alexander McQueen for Puma sneakers from Asos

Best Dressed of the Week - Mr Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake shows us how to get winter suiting just right at the GQ Men of the Year Awards dinner, held in New York earlier this week. He looks great in this black bold check suit from Tom Ford worn with a beautiful cashmere scarf, superbly and rather rakishly wrapped around his neck.
