Look of the Week

Last week, to mix things up a little, the brilliant ALEXMADEMEDOIT created an illustration based around styling the Mihara Yasuhiro bomber with high end pieces. This week, it is the turn of a new illustrator to do the very opposite. The above illustration has been created by the incredibly talented John Speed. Based in Sussex/ London, his work features inspiration from worlds as far reaching as menswear fashion, the 1950s, Russian criminal tattoos and iconic propaganda illustrations. His work has already been featured by Trainspotter, Adidas and Proper Magazine so it is a genuine pleasure for me that he has now created work for The Rakish Gent.

Just like last week, the look that I styled is based around the awesome feather embroidered bomber jacket which you can get your hands on, in the FarFetch sale. It is a real statement jacket which looks awesome dressed up or down.

Styling the jacket with high street items, I took inspiration from last weeks best dressed Mr Tinie Tempah who rocked a pair of black slim cuffed joggers, not too dissimilar to this pair from Topman. These black and navy leather trainers from Creative Recreation at Asos show that you do not need to break the bank to have a great pair of sneakers.

Massive thanks to John for assisting in this high street/ high end project. I am thrilled with the results and love his street smart illustration. You can find out and see more of John's incredible work on his blog, as well as by following on Twitter and Instagram
